Why we love it

We love Nanook for the way a day here holds both wild water and real welcome, from the run out past Stuart Island to dinner on that oceanfront deck. We are proud their gift shop carries our Creative Artisan pewter, and especially proud of the Tyee connection: Nanook ordered our Tyee pins, a fitting keepsake for a lodge where a 30-pound-plus chinook is the fish everyone is quietly hoping for.

The experience

At the mouth of Bute Inlet, Nanook puts you on sheltered Inside Passage water in a covered sportfisher, chasing big chinook where the mountains drop straight into the Salish Sea. Days run long and guided, meals are a point of pride back at the cedar lodge, and the traps come up with prawns and crab while the salmon are still the main story.

The fish

Each fish links to its pewter counterpart in our shop, the version of the catch that never has to be released.

Take the trip home

Nanook's home fish is the Tyee, a chinook of thirty pounds or better, and Nanook has ordered our Tyee pins for its guests. Start there.
