Often called "Red Salmon" due to its vibrant red hue during spawning, the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon is a highly prized and iconic species among salmon enthusiasts. With its distinct, streamlined body shape and sleek silver scales, it embodies the essence of wild Alaskan rivers. Sockeye Salmon are known for their exceptional taste and rich, flavorful flesh, making them a sought-after delicacy. They are renowned for their annual migration, swimming upstream to their natal spawning grounds with remarkable precision, a journey that is both arduous and awe-inspiring. These salmon are also commonly referred to as "Bluebacks" because of the bluish tint on their backs. Their life cycle, which includes hatching in freshwater streams, migrating to the ocean, and returning to spawn, is a marvel of nature. Celebrated for their nutritional value, Sockeye Salmon are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids and protein, making them a staple in seafood cuisine and a symbol of Alaska's pristine waters.

Craft & construction

Powerful magnets that actually hold. Our magnet strengths vary by design. Smaller magnets pull 3–5 lbs — enough to hold to a refrigerator with more than a single sheet of paper or photo between. The heavier premium magnets use an even stronger 6–7 lb magnet, and slim designs use two smaller magnets where one won't fit. Our magnets are bonded in our studio by an artisan with an industrial-strength adhesive to ensure they will never come loose.

Certified American pewter. The antiqued finish is completely safe to touch — and the craft behind it has been refined over three decades. Each batch of pewter that arrives at our shop in Port Gamble, WA from an American supplier comes with a lab test showing the material is lead free.

Ready to give. Every item arrives attached to a backing card and sealed in plastic — clean, protected, and presentable as a gift the moment it arrives.
