The Dorado, often referred to as the "Mahi-Mahi" or "Dolphin Fish" (although not related to dolphins), is a vibrant and prized marine species found in warm oceanic waters. With its dazzling colors and remarkable fighting spirit, the Dorado is a favorite catch among anglers. Dorados are easily recognizable by their vibrant, golden-yellow bodies adorned with bright green and blue patterns. Their distinctive appearance and streamlined shape make them a sight to behold both in and out of the water. These fish are known for their speed and agility, often leaping out of the water in acrobatic displays when hooked. The nickname "Mahi-Mahi" comes from the Hawaiian language and means "strong-strong." It's a fitting name, as Dorados are powerful swimmers known for their vigorous fights when caught. They are a popular target for sports fishing due to their size, striking colors, and delicious, mild-flavored flesh. Dorados are opportunistic predators, feeding on a variety of smaller fish and squid. Their culinary appeal and sporting reputation have made them a sought-after catch in tropical and subtropical waters worldwide. Whether you're an angler seeking an exciting challenge or a seafood enthusiast savoring a delectable meal, the Dorado embodies the thrill and allure of offshore fishing.

Craft & construction

Powerful magnets that actually hold. Our magnet strengths vary by design. Smaller magnets pull 3–5 lbs — enough to hold to a refrigerator with more than a single sheet of paper or photo between. The heavier premium magnets use an even stronger 6–7 lb magnet, and slim designs use two smaller magnets where one won't fit. Our magnets are bonded in our studio by an artisan with an industrial-strength adhesive to ensure they will never come loose.

Hand-painted, marine-grade finish. Each hand-painted piece is carefully painted by an artisan right in our studio in Port Gamble, WA. The proprietary multistep process includes priming each piece followed by meticulous painting by hand in acrylics with fine detail work to bring the item to life with incredible detail. The final step adds a coating of marine-grade epoxy — a hard, clear finish that protects the artwork so our product can be used on a boat, outside, or other conditions highly resistant to fading or wear.

Certified American pewter. The antiqued finish is completely safe to touch — and the craft behind it has been refined over three decades. Each batch of pewter that arrives at our shop in Port Gamble, WA from an American supplier comes with a lab test showing the material is lead free.

Ready to give. Every item arrives attached to a backing card and sealed in plastic — clean, protected, and presentable as a gift the moment it arrives.
