Also known as Algiz or the "Protection Rune," the Elhwaz rune is a powerful symbol in runic alphabets, including the Elder Futhark. Represented by an upright, branching tree or antler-like shape, it symbolizes protection, defense, and divine connection. Algiz is often associated with the elk, a majestic and protective animal, and it embodies the energy of safeguarding one's self or others. It serves as a shield against negative forces, making it a potent amulet for warding off harm or danger. The rune Algiz is linked to spiritual growth, inner strength, and the guidance of higher powers. It signifies the need for vigilance and protection on one's life journey, and it offers a sense of divine support and sanctuary. Whether used in runic divination or as a talisman, Algiz is a symbol of protection and spiritual fortitude.

Craft & construction

Built to stay put. Our pins have two posts and clutches which hold it flat and ensure a spin-free application wherever you display it. It solves a common pin complaint. The 1/4-inch steel tacks are long enough to pass through most fabrics, about 1/4 inch, yet short enough to sit flush. And each clutch seats into a small groove on the post with a firm, satisfying click — haptic feedback that tells you it's locked, and a detail cheaper pins skip.

Certified American pewter. The antiqued finish is completely safe to touch — and the craft behind it has been refined over three decades. Each batch of pewter that arrives at our shop in Port Gamble, WA from an American supplier comes with a lab test showing the material is lead free.

Ready to give. Every item arrives attached to a backing card and sealed in plastic — clean, protected, and presentable as a gift the moment it arrives.
