Hummingbird With Bleeding Hearts Pin B102
Often lovingly referred to as "Hummer" due to its rapid wing movements, the Hummingbird is a tiny marvel of the avian world. These diminutive birds are known for their dazzling iridescent plumage, delicate and agile flight, and their ability to hover in mid-air with astonishing precision, thanks to their incredibly fast wing beats, which can reach up to 80 times per second. Hummingbirds are avid nectar feeders, using their specialized long, slender bills to sip nectar from vibrant flowers, making them important pollinators. They are also voracious insect hunters, capturing tiny insects in mid-flight for protein. These remarkable creatures are found primarily in the Americas and come in a stunning array of species, each with its unique colors and markings. With their incredible energy, iridescent beauty, and acrobatic displays, hummingbirds are a source of endless fascination for bird enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Craft & construction
Built to stay put. Our pins have two posts and clutches which hold it flat and ensure a spin-free application wherever you display it. It solves a common pin complaint. The 1/4-inch steel tacks are long enough to pass through most fabrics, about 1/4 inch, yet short enough to sit flush. And each clutch seats into a small groove on the post with a firm, satisfying click — haptic feedback that tells you it's locked, and a detail cheaper pins skip.
Hand-painted, marine-grade finish. Each hand-painted piece is carefully painted by an artisan right in our studio in Port Gamble, WA. The proprietary multistep process includes priming each piece followed by meticulous painting by hand in acrylics with fine detail work to bring the item to life with incredible detail. The final step adds a coating of marine-grade epoxy — a hard, clear finish that protects the artwork so our product can be used on a boat, outside, or other conditions highly resistant to fading or wear.
Certified American pewter. The antiqued finish is completely safe to touch — and the craft behind it has been refined over three decades. Each batch of pewter that arrives at our shop in Port Gamble, WA from an American supplier comes with a lab test showing the material is lead free.
